Ruann Guimarães dos Santos

Summary

I have a bachelor’s degree in biomedicine from Faculdade CENEC at the Rio das Ostras hub, finishing in 2020. I am currently studying my second year of master’s degree through the PPGCIAC program – Postgraduate Program in Environmental Sciences and Conservation, being supervised by professor Rodrigo Nunes, joining the same in March 2022. My project and research focus is based on an invertebrate belonging to the Diptera order, popularly known as Black Flies, they are blood-sucking organisms and are very important in different sectors, therefore my focus is in addition to developing methods of creating these organisms in a laboratory environment, helping other researchers and projects with this organism in the future, using these same methods to test how these organisms react in terms of oxidative stress to compounds that often appear as contaminants in their development environment, in this case agricultural pesticides such as ROUNDUP. And in future projects, possible tests with components to combat these organisms.
