Between June 23 and 26, we welcomed Dr. Eduardo Gamosa, from the Laboratory of Applied Genomics and Bioinnovations – Fiocruz | IOC-RJ, to the Genomics Laboratory at NUPEM. During his visit, Dr. Eduardo used the laboratory’s infrastructure for the sequencing, using the Nanopore platform, of samples from the Fioantar project. This project is an initiative of Fiocruz in partnership with the Brazilian Navy through PROANTAR and, since 2019, has promoted the study of environmental samples from Antarctica with the aim of carrying out phytosanitary monitoring and identifying targets of potential biotechnological interest present on the Antarctic continent.
